Here is a small “inside“ Cherokee tale:
“One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people. He said, “My son, the battle is between two “wolves” inside us all. One is Evil.” (Wait, there is more from the old Cherokee below…)
Perhaps our evil side may sometimes look like the inside of a dilapidated old house; a room full of broken dreams, dirty regrets, fear and the inability to forgive that keeps us crippled and useless.
The old Cherokee continued to tell his grandson that “Evil is…
…anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.”
An inside of a badly needed kitchen waiting to be restored…
With lots of paint, carpentry skills, time, effort, and loving hands to help, a once seen as an inside, inhospitable space, can be made (almost) like new; much like our own lives, if we take the time to slow down and reflect on areas inside of ourselves that may need to be worked on.
Voila! Inside a better looking place to prepare home cooked loving meals…
And the old Cherokee continued to his grandson about a battle that goes on inside us…“The other is Good.
~It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith.”
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: “Which wolf wins?”
The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.”

Inside of us, lies the potential to be remodeled, restored, flipped, transformed or renewed, but, only we can make this change a reality. It may take incredible effort, time and help from outside sources, however, like fixing up a dilapidated old house, with determination and persistence, restoration is possible.

A great story that reminds us what side in us we need to feed. I hope in the end, I’m feeding the good wolf in me. This I’ll remember, “The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: “Which wolf wins?”
