Here is a small “inside“ Cherokee tale:
“One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people. He said, “My son, the battle is between two “wolves” inside us all. One is Evil.” (Wait, there is more from the old Cherokee below…)
Perhaps our evil side may sometimes look like the inside of a dilapidated old house; a room full of broken dreams, dirty regrets, fear and the inability to forgive that keeps us crippled and useless.
The old Cherokee continued to tell his grandson that “Evil is…
…anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.”
An inside of a badly needed kitchen waiting to be restored…
With lots of paint, carpentry skills, time, effort, and loving hands to help, a once seen as an inside, inhospitable space, can be made (almost) like new; much like our own lives, if we take the time to slow down and reflect on areas inside of ourselves that may need to be worked on.
Voila! Inside a better looking place to prepare home cooked loving meals…
And the old Cherokee continued to his grandson about a battle that goes on inside us…“The other is Good.
~It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith.”
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: “Which wolf wins?”
The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.”

Inside of us, lies the potential to be remodeled, restored, flipped, transformed or renewed, but, only we can make this change a reality. It may take incredible effort, time and help from outside sources, however, like fixing up a dilapidated old house, with determination and persistence, restoration is possible.

Have you taken something old, potentially looked at as a throwaway, and was able to turn it inside out thus, restoring it to something of value?

Great story… Did you change your template again?
Thanks for sharing and umm, I did recently change templates but not since the last time you were here. I am trying another background…what do you think?
Too busy? Going over to the theme section really is like going to the mall and yikes, it’s not so good for me to go there–too often.
See ya!
It’s the background then… Yeah, stay away from the template mall. It can be addictive.
Gotcha
A great story that reminds us what side in us we need to feed. I hope in the end, I’m feeding the good wolf in me. This I’ll remember, “The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: “Which wolf wins?”
The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.”
Thanks for sharing these.
Let us keep each other ‘in check’ and make sure we always feed the ‘good’ wolf in us all, Island T.
You are definitely feeding the ‘good’ wolf in yOu…so, carry on!
Thank you!
Your metaphor was very powerful; I can’t tell you how much I needed to read that this morning… thank you. I will be sure to feed to good wolf today!!
Thank you 9centGirl!
…no place like home…to feed that ‘good’ wolf!
What a terrific comparison. Hadn’t heard that particular tale – worked great with the kitchen picture – so creative!
Great story, Sunshine. I have to keep that in mind, because sometimes I feed my evil wolf and forget about the good one
Oh, do not worry Angelswhisper, we will remind you to feed the good wolf if we see the evil one getting out of hand…;)
Happy you enjoyed the story.
