SUNDAY POST : Splendid–Silent Sun

Guess what?

Despite the heat wave and wild brush fires popping up all over the place around here, yesterday afternoon, the sun decided to give a dazzling and splendid show to anyone who paused for a moment to look up to the skies.

splendid sun, heat wave, sunday post, wildfires, splendid, photograph, writing, journal

A splendid gift indeed!

WOW, is the expression I used as I looked up into the sky and as the late Freddy Mercury, lead singer for the rock band, Queen once said, “I like to be surrounded by splendid things.”

Indeed, a splendid gift from the sun that briefly surrounded my world and despite all the problems the heat wave is bringing; there truly is a blessing-in-disguise. Some of you may know how much the dratted bug; the mosquito means to me, well, I believe the triple digit temperatures have vaporized a good portion of the mosquito population.

Oh, gee, poor little things…sizzled out before they got a chance to suck the blood right out of me. Poor, poor things.

Hey, if you are looking for a great weekly community, stop on by Jakesprinter every Sunday for the SUNDAY POST : With this week’s theme –Splendid. By the way, Jake is a splendid graphic artist and blogger!

Soooo, now that you know my splendid thing I received recently, my curious mind wants to know what splendid thing came your way recently…

Weekly Photo Challenge: Growth–Young Readers

Throughout a child’s early life , we measure and compare other children to each other using both the height and weight growth charts. Monitoring physical growth is important but so is the ability to read the written word.

reading,charming moments,Post a day 2012,love,reader,growth,

Reading is a key to future success.

In order to grow into the habit of being a passionate reader, good examples early in life can help make lifelong passionate readers.

A few examples if you directly have influence on a young child are:

1. Love to read. You are the example and you must love to read.
2. Surround them with great children books and that way you can pass on your enthusiasm.
3. Read aloud often. The written word becomes alive as you read aloud.

Other examples that help the growth of a reader is, if available, visiting the public libraries, going to used book sales and visiting bookstores in your area.

Therefore, we measure the growth of child in many areas, but an important area that helps to bring future success a bit easier for a child is the ability to read well. We should measure the growth of this ability with as much enthusiasm as we do a child’s height and weight.

Do you believe the growth of a young reader is as important as a child’s height and weight?

GO…
Here are the three books I hope to finish reading soon, one for sure since it is a daily prayer booklet and if I do not finish it–shame on me!

here, books, 5 minute Friday, hope,life,free writing,challenges

be here now…

Here on a comfortable spot I begin the journey, page after page, my mind flows over so much wisdom. Julia Cameron comes first with the words to encourage the use of the morning pages–it is free writing on anything and it should fill up three and a half pages.

Here I have all the intentions to read. It is here I want to grab a few laughs with the book, 50 Funniest American Writers, practice the art of writing with, The Right to Write and of course, my morning coffee and prayers with, Give Us This Day and my last goodnight prayers with, Give Us This Day.

Life here seems so short and I feel time must be used wisely.

So, here are the current three reading materials, filled with so much wisdom…Here all waiting for me to open the pages and begin the journey–
To learn
To laugh
To grow in God’s goodness and grace…
Here I begin to read a chapter or two, but it takes only a short time before my eyes decide, it is time to sleep…Stop

Here I want to complete three reading materials soon and what do hope to finish, soon?
